Taiwan’s ICT Industry’s Strength is Enhanced with Exhibitions

 Publish Date :2018/04/20

The organizers of COMPUTEX held a press conference on April 11, 2018. In this occasion, they showed what to expect in COMPUTEX 2018 and its special exhibitions, InnoVEX and SmarTEX. 5 COMPUTEX exhibitors: Amazon Global Selling, ASUS, Intel, NVIDIA, and Supermicro also joined to give a brief introduction on what they will bring in June 2018.

Nearly 40 years running, COMPUTEX is still growing strong

Since its inception, COMPUTEX has shown impressive figures and turnouts annually for 38 years; with many companies in ICT Industry launching their new products in COMPUTEX. The forums included in the exhibition also aim to share industry leaders and professionals’ insights to the visitors.

In order to remain relevant to the ICT industry, the topics are updated to fit what the global market demands while offering its own unique selling proposition. For COMPUTEX and its special exhibitions, InnoVEX and SmarTEX, one of their most powerful unique selling propositions is most definitely its location which is home to many global leaders in manufacturing.

This year’s COMPUTEX will feature 5 main topics: AI, 5G, Industrial IoT, Gaming & VR and Blockchain; all of which are growing in market interest and will most likely be more vital or mainstream. This year, COMPUTEX will host 1,602 exhibitors in 5,015 booths from 28 countries.

Started in 2016, the startup oriented InnoVEX will feature forums on AI, women entrepreneurship, startup ecosystem, and cultural technology. This year’s InnoVEX will also feature BMW for the first time along with over 300 startup teams from more than 20 countries; and expected to attract more than 18,000 visitors.

Up-and-coming startups also benefit from the ICT market growth and geographical advantage. By inviting the general public and giving free access to professionals both foreign and domestic, we can help them find partnerships, investments, and exposure. We believe having an additional exhibition to help startups can be beneficial to everyone involved because not only will the startups grow, but the investors will also gain sources of innovation and new ideas. The end result, we believe is a stronger, healthier digital based economy.

COMPUTEX will also feature SmarTEX, the exhibition to find integrated IoT solutions; the topics will include AI & Big Data, Internet of Vehicles, Security Application, Smart Home, Smart Tech Solutions, and Wearables & Sport Technology.

Taiwanese Industry is Stronger than You Think and will Continue Growing

One of the speakers in the press conference was the Taipei Computer Association (TCA) Deputy Secretary General, Mr. Chang Li. He stated how Taiwan remains one of the ICT industry’s vital players. This is further evidenced by the value of its ICT industry from Taiwanese companies, with just its end products value estimated to be worth USD 400 Billion and the top 10 companies in the end products market estimated to be worth USD 329 Billion. The assets of the top 2 IC companies, top 2 LCD companies, and top 5 electronics manufacturing services companies combined are worth approximately USD 2.35 Billion. Their assets are also quite heavily invested in R&D, land, and equipment.

Taiwanese listed companies’ net profits are also projected to experience a growth to an estimated total of approximately USD 70 Billion by the end of 2018. With electronics companies expected to have the highest profit growth of 13.7%. Using this as the benchmark, we can summarize that the Taiwanese electronics industry is much stronger than what people thought and it will continue growing.

Mr. Chang Li also stated his speech how Taiwan’s Industry has been underrated for some time and it is in fact, a lot stronger than what people generally knew. Now with a possible collaboration between the established companies who provide capital and manufacturing capabilities with the startups who own ideas and innovations, Taiwan’s economy will undoubtedly grow stronger.

Exhibitions act as a way for companies to expand their reach to international markets. This will benefit the companies and improve the economies. Buyers, investors, professionals, and start-ups can join COMPUTEX, InnoVEX, and SmarTEX to find business partnerships and potential deals.
