Publish Date :2024/11/07
To promote cooperation between Taiwan and Poland, the Taiwan Vehicle Electronics Consortium (TVEC) organized the 2024 Taiwan – Poland Power-Electronics Tech Forum on November 5 and 6 at the Tainan Shalun Green Energy Technology Demonstration Site (SGETDS). The event gathered industry leaders, academia, experts, and government representatives from Taiwan, Poland, and Mexico interested in exploring the latest developments and applications of power electronics.
Similar to the previous 2 editions, the event focused on key areas including EV, smart grids, renewable energy management, and power electronic component research & development. The event included forums, technical workshops and industry-academia networking activities to provide a valuable platform to deepen the cooperation between Taiwan and Poland in power electronics technology. The forum was strongly supported by the Polish Office in Taipei and featured an opening speech by the Head of the Consular and Economic Section of the Polish Office in Taipei, Mr. Łukasz Weremiuk; demonstrating the continuously improving cooperation between Taiwan and Poland, especially in the power electronics industry.
The 2024 Taiwan – Poland Power-Electronics Tech Forum was sponsored by major companies, including SENTEC and Dara Power. It was also supported by Taipei Computer Association (TCA), Taiwan Advanced Automotive Technology Development Association (TADA), Taiwan Green Energy Association (TGEA), and Southern Taiwan University of Science and Technology.
In the forum, Dr. Jakub Bernatt from the KOMAG Institute in Poland delivered a keynote speech discussing the renewable energy sources in Europe. Professor Maciej Sulowicz, Dean of the Faculty of Electrical and Computer Engineering of Cracow University of Technology shared the feasibility of developing a distributed energy storage system. Professor Katarzyna Bizon from the Faculty of Chemical Engineering and Technology who is also the Vice President of Education and International Relations shared her research results on semiconductor nanocrystals as nanomaterials with optoelectronics functions.
In addition, the event also featured Mrs. Katarzyna Baron-Lisiakiewicz, Head of the International Relations Office and Prof. Katarzyna Matras-Postołek, Vice-Dean for Evaluation and International Cooperation at the Faculty of Chemical Engineering and Technology at Cracow University of Technology. They explained how the university hopes to establish long-term partnerships with Taiwan’s academic and industrial circles.
The Taiwanese experts joining the forum included Dr. Tao-Chih Chang, Division Director at Industrial Technology Research Institute (ITRI) shared the R&D activities of wide bandgap (WBG) power electronics in ITRI. A well-known Taiwanese energy storage company, Truewin also shared the demand for energy storage technologies in semiconductor factories. SENTEC Group also introduced how their proprietary silicon carbide (SiC) packaging technology can be applied to the design of heavy micro-mobility power train.
Professor Jing-Jou Tang, chairman of the Taiwan Vehicle Electronics Consortium (TVEC) stated that “We aim to use the forum to promote two-way exchanges between Taiwan and Poland to build a bridge for Taiwanese companies aiming to enter the European market.” Successfully hosting the forum not only deepened Taiwan-Poland cooperation and created new opportunities for technological innovation and cooperation in emerging markets, making Taiwan more competitive in the global power electronics industry.
