【Industry Trends Forum】Next-Generation Comfort and Safety Features Drive Growing ADAS Demand

 Publish Date :2023/10/20

COMPUTEX TAIPEI will return from June 4 to 7, 2024 with the new addition of the Smart Mobility Area. To promote this update, the COMPUTEX Team organized the Auto IC, Driving the Future forum during SEMICON Taiwan on September 7, 2023.

One of the speakers in the forum is Mr. Matthias Feulner, Senior Director for NXP’s Product Line ADAS. NXP Semiconductor is a Dutch semiconductor designer and manufacturer for various applications including automotive, communication infrastructure, smart city, smart home, and more.

In his speech, Mr. Feulner shared that the growing demand for ADAS will be driven by new comfort features for Level 2 and Level 2+ vehicles. By 2030, this segment is expected to represent 50% of the vehicle production with mid-range vehicles having as many as 5 sensors and premium vehicles having up to 10 sensors.

This trend will also create a triple acceleration effect where more cars will have more radar sensors due to safety regulations, more radar sensors due to new comfort features, and eventually drive development for better performing radars that can accurately monitor the vehicle’s environment.

The trend will drive a need for integrated sensor suites as OEMs will want seamless scalability for automotive radar. Mr. Feulner proposed a scalable radar platform that covers all the use cases based on a common architecture that utilizes common IPs to promote reusability, quick development cycles, and faster time to market.

COMPUTEX will return from June 4 to 7 2024 in Taipei Nangang Exhibition Center (TaiNEX) Halls 1 and 2. Join us onsite and find the latest ICT products in Asia’s leading B2B ICT Trade Show!
