Delta Promises “We Mean Business” and has achieved SBT

Companies play a crucial role in sustainable development. Delta has long focused on the development of various international sustainability initiatives and identified topics that match Delta's ideals to make an active response and maximize the effects of company strategy. Climate change is an issue that Delta has focused on for a long time. Dealing with climate change has become an extension of Delta and our corporate social responsibility commitments. Delta was a leader in publishing the Delta Climate Action Plan in 2015. We signed the "We Mean Business" initiative promoted by the CDP and World Business Council for Sustainable Development (WBCSD), and committed to adopting a science-based carbon emissions reduction target, reporting climate change information in mainstream reports as a fiduciary duty, engaging in a responsible corporate climate policy, and conversion to electric vehicles and expansion of charging facilities. We also pledged to join the RE100 initiative in 2021.

Delta passed the compliance review by the Science-Based Targets initiative (SBTi) in 2017, becoming the first company in Taiwan and the 87th in the world to have passed the review. In 2020, we actively responded to limit global warming to 1.5°C, and our absolute emissions decreased by 49% as compared to the level in the base year of 2014, achieving the emission reduction path for the 1.5°C target for two consecutive years. We also plan to join the Business Ambition for 1.5°C campaign in 2021 to echo the United Nations' "Race to Zero" and to achieve Delta's carbon neutrality goal by 2030.

With science-based targets (SBTs) guiding our path towards the goal of Net-Zero, Delta Electronics has implemented more than 2,000 energy-saving programs, reduced 49% of its own absolute GHG emissions from 2015 to 2020 using 2014 as baseline and saved 171,421 tons of CO2e. We have adopted green buildings certifications such as LEED for 27 buildings and 2 data centers, and reduced carbon emissions by approximately 11,684 metric tons CO2e in 2020. We have also helped our value chain save nearly 17.8 million metric tons of CO2e and 33.5 billion kWh of electricity using our high-efficiency products, which was equivalent to 16.3 times the electricity consumption of the City of London. This has helped our global clients save roughly 4 billion USD in costs.
